A new village sign was unveiled on the Village Green on Saturday 5 August 2000.  The sign has been erected as part of Kingston on Soar's Millennium celebrations, and was unveiled by Mr Ron Temple, the oldest village resident born in the Parish.  The picture shows (L to R) Mr Norman Beeby, Parish Chairman from 1977 to 2000, Mr Ron Temple, and Mr Bob Metcalfe, Chairman of the Millennium Committee.  Other ways of marking the  Millennium have included the planting of a tree, a bonfire and fireworks party, and providing every household and every child in the Parish with a commemorative mug.
